In some places, there are people offering services like sketching and painting your face. You just strike a pose and they will do the rest. What if the one making the artwork of your face is not a person but a ROBOT?
B.F. Hexapod is able to do that. If there is a robot that can take your picture and upload it directly to your website, there is also a robot called B.F. Hexapod that can make a neat carving of your face in high density foam. This robot created by Matt Denton has six legs allowing it to have great stability and mobility. It is able to do its carving tricks by its milling machine.
B.F. hexapod was originally named V5 Hexapod. The name was changed when it got tested this 2008. At first it was just able to do simple drawings and then Matt further developed its skills into carving.
For me, it is nice to see that human’s artistry is being incorporated to machines like these. Who knows, maybe in the future, people will be adoring world renowned robot artists instead of human artists. (Even though it looks so hi-tech, in a way I think the idea is a bit freaky too…)
