GINA Light of Visionary – BMW SHAPE-SHIFTING Car
Have you seen a shape shifting car? Yes? Well, in movies maybe. But I am talking about reality here, a car that actually changes its shape without tearing its car casing apart. It’s pretty cool right?
The car that has that property is called GINA Light of Visionary Model. It is not out in the market yet because it is still on the conceptual and polishing stage but it definitely promises NEW STYLE in cars. BMW created this car concept in which a seamless, plastic-coated Lycra material is used for the outer body of the car covering its metal frame. The stretchable material allows the car to change its shape as well as the positioning of the steering wheel, gauges and headrest. Once the driver sits inside the car, the different parts will then go into their places.
The car is equipped with a 4.4 liter Z8 with a six-speed automatic transmission. Its body is composed of four panels namely the hood, two sides and rear. The shape-shifting property goes as far as altering things such as adding or removing a spoiler or even widening the fenders. Another plus factor is that the material is water resistant.
If shape-shifting is not yet amazing for you, maybe the headlight arrangement will earn your applause. When the headlights are off, they are hidden under the fabric cover and when the driver turns them on, the outline of the front end of the car changes showing off the headlights. It appears to me as if the car has closing and opening eyes.
BMW intention in creating this concept car is to show that automobiles’ design do not have to be as traditional and usual as the rigid body panels and metal frames. Kudos to BMW!
