Creator Alan Kaufman who imagined something new kind of Umbrella when he witness many people struggling to put their umbrellas straight in pouring rain. He immediately sketched the first drawing of Numbrella and this is how it began in its way to production for the market.

The name is the combination of new + umbrella and basically the main idea is to keep your head, face and shoulder safe from the rain, snow and winds and keeps you always dry. Unlike your classical umbrellas, it will never invert even in fierce wind and also it won’t blow you away either. This oval shape new umbrella is built aerodynamically and follows all the rules of physics hence, it just fits in your shoulder, you are move your arms freely as especially you using your phone in rain and from now on you will never have to hold it with your hand and getting wet sometime while those wind blow across the street.

This is not your high tech gadget but definitely worth to look at because it is the technology and look how imagination creates something very useful in our daily lives.

Handpresso is a portable espresso maker. It can be used anywhere, anytime so those espresso-lovers out there no longer have to go to coffee shops that might be blocks away from their present location. Handpresso is guaranteed to make quality espresso with delicious aroma and perfect cream.

When it comes to storage, Handpresso can be stored in a drawer, it can be hung with your other kitchenwares in the garden outside your home or it can be packed in a bag which can be carried anywhere.

This scenario is seen by Denis Guidone and it gave him the idea to design a watch. He called his work Ora Unica which means “one hour” in English. The watch is not like the watches we usually know. It does not have hour, minute and seconds hands and it is also not digital. All it shows is a quirky scribble. According to Guidone, time can be distinguished just by looking at the single line drawn on the two circular faces where one is inside the other. The image shows the faces resembling gestures that change as time goes by.

This design was recognized at the Adamo Eva International Design Competition. It was awarded as the first place.

You read it right. That is the new function delivered by the pair of Smart Contact Lenses. The Smart Contact Lenses have the ability to measure the pressure within the eye and immediately dispense medication accordingly. This could be made possible with the use of the material developed by the biomedical engineers at UC Davis School of Medicine. They started with the material called polydimethylsiloxane or PDMS. The engineers developed a way of placing powdered silver which has antimicrobial properties on the PDMS and shaped it into a contact lens shape so it could act like a pressure sensor in the eye.

If it becomes successful, it could be used to prevent and treat Glaucoma. Glaucoma is a condition that can lead to blindness. It is caused by the uneven build-up of pressure in the eyes. The reading made by the smart contact lenses would be relayed on a computer where it could be analyzed by specialists. Presently, researchers and developers of the smart contact lenses are making ways to seek approval for trials and tests.
