A new pair of USB Speakers is out from LaCie. These new portable USB speakers are called as Air Vents. The name is accounted for its design that looks like air ventilation outlets that are commonly found on most modern type of skyscrapers. The design also follows the trend of minimalism since it has drivers measuring only 2 inches. Both of them has a rough finish and sits on a rubber ring at the bottom to keep the speakers from slipping away from where they are originally placed. The Air Vent speakers are colored black and white which are just perfect in complementing the colors of most laptops and PCs.

The speakers are USB connected so no more Ac adapters are needed. It even makes the Air Vent speakers more fit for traveling around. On the other hand, the FireWire version of the speaker requires a 6W FireWire port common only in MacBooks. These new items are one of the products showcasing both form and functionality in LaCie’s creations. The USB Air Vent speakers retail for $59.99 while the FireWire version is sold at $99.99.

Swing Hub, a creation from Boynq is a USB hub that seems to replicate the design of Newton’s cradle. It comes with 4 USB hubs that are hanged side by side. In addition to its form, the Swing Hub also has a surge protection and a DC power jack. The only thing that it may not be able to replicate is the swinging back motion of the marbles in Newton’s cradle especially when there are already USB cables plugged in. But who needs to swing the USBs anyway? It is just about the novelty of the design.
