CES 2010: A Keyboard That Works
What do you do for a living?
If you are like me, who spends at least eight hours per day typing on the keyboard, chances are you are probably feeling some strangely painful joints on your wrist. Or, you could also feel your fingertips getting numb over time, feeling like blood does not circulate well to this part of your body. All this is because you spend most of your time touching the keyboard than your pillows. So when CES 2010 announced the Smartfish ErgoMotion Keyboard, it was like angels singing from up above.
If you would notice, the Smartfish ErgoMotion keyboard has a slightly different shape compared to most keyboard which are rectangular. This one is curved and has a division between the letters. You might think, I don't need to adjust to another kind of keyboard because it might affect my work speed. But believe me, it is all worth it. This design was carefully thought of by Smartfish together with Hitachi Maxwell. It was curved in such a way that your fingers and your wrists receive the least pressure when you are typing. Other than that, the keyboard has a built in technology that automatically senses when you are typing more than your usual and when you are just browsing the net. The more time you spend typing, the more the distance between the letters grow by using an automatic radial motion, alleviating wrist and finger stress.
Here is how the Smartfish ErgoMotion Keyboard works:
So if you don't want to end up with Carpal Tunnel syndrome, might as well invest in one of these keyboards. This will officially be available to the public in March, with a retail price of about $150.
