I have always loved playing with a camera. At age 10, I remember owning my very first film SLR and we were inseparable. I still believe in its power and though a lot of digital SLRs were introduced, I decided to stick with film. After all, I would rather look at grains than pixels. However, there is no denying the fact that digital cameras are much more convenient if you want to share pictures of people you love. Plus, film cameras do not have video functions unlike most digitals. So I waited until the best point and shoot camera hit the markets that offers superb video performance as well. Now, the wait is over.

This is not a digital SLR. This is a high-end point and shoot camera called the Nikon Coolpix P100. Included in the line up of superzoom point and shoot cameras, the P100 has up to 26x optical zoom to capture even the tiniest and farthest detail, with a range of 26-678mm.

However, the lens is not only the buying factor. The P100 now has a 10.1 megapixel CMOS sensor that is perfect for low light conditions. And, my personal favorite on the upgrades, it is the first Coolpix to boast of a true HD video performance with its 1080p capability. The 26x zoom and the video capability can be used both at the same time, although we are unsure yet of whether it would produce the same loud motor noise common when zooming in and out on point and shoots.

As for the price, we have no exact figures yet but we figured that it will be well worth it.
