Water transportation is also making its way towards a greener environment. Cars are not the only ones becoming eco-friendly. Now, Dutch creators claim that they have made the first ever solar speedboat. Yes. It is being powered by the renewable solar energy.
The solar speedboat called as Czeers MK1 which measures 10 meter in length is a 30 knot photovoltaic boat dressed with carbon fiber and 14 square meters of solar cells plus a lush of orange leather. An LCD touch screen is used as its control system.
Environmentalists will really be happy to hear that the Czeers MK1 speedboat uses no oil therefore emitting no fumes. Aside form that, it runs on water without any engine noise.
The design of the eco-friendly speedboat was created by the Delft Technical University Solar Boat Team. They used it as an entry in the 2006 Nuon Frisian Solar Challenge.
Undoubtedly, their project won. Having won, an investment source, Rabobank got interested with the project and provided the financial assistance for the speedboat’s full scale test. After it was tested, Czeers MK1 was launched at the Millionaire Fair last 2007.
