Having the usual flap opening in your front door for your dog, cat or other pets has its disadvantages against the newest Plexidoor Electronic dog door. The Plexidoor Electronic Dog Door is the hi-tech version of the pet door in which your dog or cat no longer have to bump themselves in the door just to get in or out of the house.

With the electronic dog door, the pet is given a waterproof RFID chip attached in its collar. The chip acts as a pass code and the door electronically opens whenever it comes near and got sensed. This kind of set-up is ideal if you do not want neighborhood pets or other animals to enter in your house except for your pet. That is possible with the electronic door since other animals don’t have the chip to be able to pass through the door.

It also has an edge when it comes to security. If you have a baby in your home, there is no need to worry about them exiting the house. In case of power failure, the pet door automatically resets and does not require reprogramming. However, the electronic door costs more than the usual flap door. Plexidoor retails from $129 to $800.
