And no, I'm not flipping patties at that. Recently, a new addition to Motorola's line of products caught our attention most out of all the mobile phones in the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas just a few days back. The Motorola BackFlip is really intriguing I had to find out exactly what it does and what it does not do.

See, what really got my attention here is the ergonomics of the Motorola BackFlip. I am finding it hard to understand how exactly should the user be able to use the Motorola backflip when it is folded. The front part looks just like any other smartphone out there with a wide, touchscreen for easy use. But when you flip the other side of the mobile phone over, you would see a full Qwerty keyboard. Hmmm... But it looks quite dashing, though, when it is open. Though if I own this one, I would still worry about the keyboard being exposed to external elements at all times.

You might be wondering about its features by now which, I should warn you, are not at all that special. Just like any other smartphone, it is WiFi capable and has bluetooth. It could also function as a GPS device when you are driving around town you are not familiar with. It also boasts of a 5 megapixel camera that takes photos which you can store in its 2 GB internal memory (which is expandable to 32 GB).

If you are interested in owning a unit, you can watch out for its global release sometime in the first quarter of 2010. However, they have not listed the exact countries but it will be available in select ones in Europe, Asia, Latin America and North America. Price has not been released yet and so is the carrier.
