I am surrounded by hardcore gamers and I have laid hands on virtually all the popular gaming consoles. Playstation 3, Xbox, Wii, PSP, Nintendo DS, name it. However, the common complaint I hear from my hardcore gamer friends would be how heavy it was to tug along a couple of different gadgets all at once. Mobile phone, camera, portable gaming console. Sure, iPhone did launch a phone and gaming console in one but really, it doesn't come close to a heart wrenching gaming experience. Maybe it's about time that someone thinks of a mobile phone that could become a serious gaming device as well and that's what the Ovi Orion is all about.
The Ovi Orion is Nokia's concept gaming phone. It boasts of a large 4.3" touchscreen display for a more enhanced gaming experience. It has both directional and action controls, just like your Playstation controller. The phone's functions include 3G and WiFi and if you need to send long e-mails to your family and friends, all you need is flip the unit over and you will see a QWERTY keyboard.
You might think, "How on Earth am I supposed to see what I am typing if I need to flip the phone to type?" The good thing is, there is a light up screen at the back of the Ovi Orion so you can see what you are actually typing.
As of now, this Nokia model is still a concept and no one knows for sure when it will hit the market. Gamers are just wishing that it would.
